Tim Short & Ruby Samba

Tim Short & Ruby Samba

I currently perform with my father Tim Short who is an Editor and Film maker. We've been playing at festivals in and around Wales for 4 years. I love music, listening and creating and often DJ at clubs and events in Cardiff. I have a very broad music taste ranging from Malian beats, Brazilian Rhythms, Heavy bass lines, Classical pieces and a massive fan of soul music.

I have travelled to Mali and performed at the Festival Sur Le Niger, I was the only western performer that year and I must say it was a tough but extremely valued experience. Learning about how singer ate perceived there was very interesting; it made me fall in love with singing in a new way. I also performed at the Lake of Stars festival in Malawi and really enjoyed myself; it was a less remote festival and so was less tough but still a worthwhile gig.

At the moment I'm spending time in studio recording an EP/ Album. I'm loving it and very privileged to be working with some very very talented musicians. I love performing and would like to do as much as I possible can. I'm eager to work with new musicians and travel to new places.

Urbantramper (New Zeland)

We're from Aotearoa, New Zealand. Some people say it's paradise here. The reality is dark and getting darker. We have a government that has no regard for the environment and an economy that relies on industrial dairy. This pains me... yours sincerly, Urbantramper - trying to drink less milk, eat more vegies, give more shit to the government and drive less cars... since 2001. (before that, we just did doughnuts and smoked pot). Says it all really, a quirky band !

Fugitives TBC

Well respected South wales blues band who sing in a Llanelli delta blues voice, which has been marinated in leeks and lavabread and then hung out to dry in a barrel full of SA, then taken outside and stamped on in muddy boots.

The Fugitives blues ensemble's line-up are:
Gary Shag esq: Gary Shag is one of the most accomplished and revered stickmen this side of the eqautor. With hands faster than a Chinese noodle maker, he can shuffle and rock with equal aplomb.
Master Stephen Likes daps and shaves his beard off every Christmas eve at 2.30 am, and goes through a well established routine. Abraham Lincoln, Noddy Holder, Poldark and then finally, the lovely looking boy that his Mum loves the most.
The Mighty Boosh : Very very fashionable, his Man at Peacocks range will be available on this site soon. Has new glasses which now longer fall off when he sweats. Has a seriuos ailment called "AMERICAN - ACCENT - WHEN NEAR - A - MICRPHONE - ITIS".
Ferret Stevie J :A stalwart of the great TS BLUES BAND, he joins with great raunchy guitar playing, a cherubic face and a voice like an angel. Comes from Ebbw Vale, which explains why he always wears an anorak.
Justin Ferrari Boy Holly :With a voice as smooth as velvet with an edging of silk, harmonicas as passionate as a kiss from a lonely spinster.A man who dances like Gordon Brown. Sorry that should be James Brown.

Fernhill

Fernhill

Since they formed in 1996, Fernhill have become highly regarded, innovative cultural ambassadors for Wales and its folk music, having toured in over 20 countries and three continents. Intimate enough with tradition that they are unafraid to stretch it's boundaries they have appeared at UK festivals as diverse as Greenman, Womad, the Oxford folk festival, Whitby Musicport and Glasgow's Celtic Connections. Radio One's Huw Stephens is a fan of their music and invited them to play at the first Latitude festival and to headline an acoustic night at Cardiffs' SWN festival in 2008.

"Wales' premier folk band have been making beautiful music for years now, it's folk music but not as we know it. Julie's voice is haunting and incredibly soothing, with tales of sadness and beauty ... so simple it was stunning."
